Del Rio rancher Jim Bob Altizer passes away at home
Jim Bob Altizer, a Del Rio rancher and former rodeo champion, died this morning in Del Rio. He owned two ranches raising Hereford cattle Rambouillet sheep and Angora goats and was a long time community leader. He served on the Del Rio Bank and Trust board the American Junior Rodeo Association and the Rodeo Cowboys Association and helped fundraise for the Texas Boys Ranch through the Jim Bob Altizer Roping event. He was born May 19 1932 to Olin and Stella Cawthorn Altizer and leaves two children Mack Amor and Sherry Lee. Services are pending at Cox Memorial Funeral Home.
