Sell-out Wild Game Dinner Funds Del Rio Chamber Goals
The 8th Annual Wild Game Dinner at the Civic Center drew a sold out crowd with tickets at 10 each. More than 100 prizes plus a 1000 travel voucher raised over 10000 for the Del Rio Chamber of Commerce. Volunteers from the Lions Clubs aided service as organizers noted strong support from Laughlin sponsors. A moment of tribute honored Ricardo Garza and his family accepted the resolution.

Victim Awareness Seminar Planned Thursday in Del Rio
A Victim Awareness and Sensitivity Training Seminar is planned for Thursday November 11 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at La Casa de la Cultura 302 Calle St across from Brown Plaza. It is free, co sponsored by the Texas Department of Justice Victim Services Office and Val Verde County Attorney’s Office. The session targets law enforcement, prosecutors, court staff, corrections and parole officers, victim advocates, and others who deal with victims to improve identification and response to violent crime. Topics include Victimology Resources for Victims Victim Impact Panel and Crisis Intervention. A panel of victims will discuss their experiences with crime. The Department of Criminal Justice offers five CE hours for attendees. Pre register by calling (512) 406 5424.

International trade and traffic rise at Del Rio border
Through August 1997 Del Rio and Eagle Pass show gains in international crossings with total vehicles into Mexico at Del Rio 1,145,040 and Eagle Pass 1,708,788 year to date.
