The Del Rio Rams hope to clinch the consolation championship after one more win in the Tulusa Midway Basketball Tournament set in the valley. News briefs cover Connally Wyatt hostage talks, a fatal train collision in rural Texas, and NASA space classroom mission with Christa McAuliffe’s program.
The Del Rio Bridge Board approved a resolution opposing the Del Rio Ciudad Acuna toll hike, urging empathy for both cities. Members noted potential cross border fee plans and INS express lanes, with a request to contact federal representatives about the new law. The board also authorized 5000 for Christmas decorations and a 400 donation to the city party, scheduling next meeting for January 23.
Del Rio International toll traffic dropped in October and November 1990. Auto crossings fell about 4.87 percent to 5,062 fewer vehicles, while pedestrian crossings declined 7.70 percent. Total October income rose year over year, but November income dropped, with counts showing a broad toll impact and an ongoing DPS inquiry.

Johnny and Robert Canales visited Del Rio for an English lesson with Homero Martinez's fifth grade class at San Luis Elementary in Eagle Pass. Students used taped interviews to write about similarities and differences, created autographed pictures, practiced capital letters and punctuation, and crafted a large decorated envelope containing their letters for possible airing on the Johnny Canales show. Martinez also hosts KTDR's Mr Tejano Shuffle on Friday nights, interviewing Tejano musicians and local figures.
