The Dow Jones average of 30 industrials opened the day at 1,888.22, down 26.01 from Friday's close. Volume on the Big Board reached 45.68 million shares as decliners outpaced gainers by about four to one, with 1,081 stocks falling, 279 rising, and 378 unchanged.

Gusty winds and mild weekend highs forecast by weather service
The National Weather Service warns northwest winds 20 to 30 mph tonight with a low in the mid 30s. Tuesday expects north winds 15 to 25 mph and a high in the low 60s. Sunday started cloudy then cleared to a high near 75. Canal Water Reeds Overflow Prompts Resident Plea for Help
