Santa Claus visits Del Rio with a 6 30 start on a chamber float for a town parade. The Del Rio Junior High Band leads the march along South Main to Greenwood, with Santa to meet children during interviews on a flatbed truck. Stores stay open as he greets youngsters.
Mrs. Henry Seale and Mrs. Stella Felton return from two weeks with relatives in Dallas Fort Worth and Waco. A memorial tea is set for Sunday at Elks Hall at 3 p.m. Rev Glen D Stafford and family visited Del Rio for Thanksgiving. Dr Jim Lewis, psychology professor at Sul Ross, joined the Urbys for the weekend. Mrs A C Kennedy returns from Thanksgiving trips to Alice and Corpus Christi. Blanche Martin, widow of Marcy Martin, is seriously ill in Temple.
The annual Christmas party hosted by Mr and Mrs W M Stool for their staff at The Guarantee occurs at 817 Gunner with a 20 year tradition. A membership meeting follows a Dec 8 barbecued supper at San Felipe Country Club where Fi Ss near the U S Customs office.

New Braunfels voters approve a revised city charter in a special election. A seven member commission will govern unsalaried, taking office January 1. The slate includes H. H. Knox, Dr. Stanley Woodward, Jesse Gomez, Walter Becker, Warren Ebel, and Eddie Millett with 433 votes. total 1,911 ballots cast in favor.

Damascus charged that Jordan's Arab Legion opened fire on anti-government refugees who fled into Syria. One man was killed and Syria accused Jordan of trying to drag Syria into a side conflict while pledging to protect citizens. Prime Minister Hussein vowed to strengthen frontier towns and called for unified Arab action to defend Palestine.
President Johnson's arrival at Laughlin Air Force Base is timed for 11 45 a m with public greetings planned for about 20 minutes. He will tour the Mexican damsite with President Diaz Ordaz by helicopter and attend a private barbecue before returning to his ranch.
