Two jailed on weapons charges in Del Rio
Del Rio men Rogelio Alvarado. 19, of 106 Arranage Ave. and Ruben Reyes, 23, of 317 E Adobe St. were released Monday on $500 bonds after Sunday arrests for unlawfully carrying prohibited weapons. Police say they tried to fight Gregorio Reyes at 807 San Felipe Ave. Alvarado had a bumper jack and Reyes a club. Alvarado attempted to hide the jack under their car seat during a 9:50 p.m. stop at Ogden and Washington streets.

Man cleared of murder charge after arrest at port
A Laredo man with the same name as a Dallas suspect in a May 2 stabbing death was cleared after Del Rio police determined he is not the person sought. Pedro Martinez, 24, was arrested at the Port of Entry around 8:15 p.m. Sun day night following a customs check with the NCIC. Dallas police said it was undetermined if the detainee matched the Dallas victim Enedina Beila.

Commissioners raise court fees in Val Verde County
The Val Verde County Commissioners Court voted to raise court fees to cover higher costs. Effective Sept 1, small claims court fees rise from five to ten dollars and justice court fees from eight to fifteen. other courts from ten to twenty. Sheriff and constable writ service fees increase to twenty seven dollars each, up from six to twelve depending on court type.

Electrical Fire Damages Dora Vasquez Home in Del Rio
A blaze at Dora Vasquez residence at 517 W. Fourteenth St. caused an estimated 1000 dollars in carport damage. Fourteen Del Rio Fire Station No. 3 firefighters battled the 5:45 p.m. fire and returned to station about an hour later. Firefighter Pablo Padilla cited an electrical short as the cause but did not pinpoint the origin.
