Val Verde County to hold hearing on tax hike
Val Verde County Commissioners Court set a public hearing for 10 a.m. Aug 25 on a proposed 2003 2004 tax rate increase. Change at Val Verde Hospital District Board as Berg joins
Ramiro Ramon resigned as president of the Val Verde Regional Medical Center Hospital District Board on August 8. U S Border Patrol Chief Patrol Agent Paul Berg filled the vacancy after a brief executive session and unanimous vote. Berg, sworn in by Attorney Quinton Etzel, will serve an elected term through 2006 and may seek re election. Berg highlighted his extensive management background and civic work with the Del Rio Rotary Club as he prepared to take on board duties. Ramon had served since May 5 1998 and overseen the hospital renovation completed in 2000.
