Deaths James Henry Elledge Rites Held for Ex Sheriff

Funeral services for James Henry Elledge 83 former Val Verde County chief deputy sheriff will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at Humphreys-Doran Funeral Home with Rev. Joe Watts officiating. Burial follows at Oak Lawn Memorial Park. Elledge died Friday in a local hospital. He was born April 5, 1898 in Spofford and served many years with the sheriff's department, retiring December 1976. Survivors include his wife Viola, three sons Henry Jr Bobby Joe and Raymond, two daughters Jean Simmons and Shirley Prew, a brother Thalis, a sister Lydia Patrick, nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be sheriff's department members.

Alfonso C. Blanco a 39 year old Uvalde resident was killed in a Thursday two vehicle crash 14.5 miles east of Brackettville.
