Make A Wish grants Blue's Clues room for West Texas boy
Four year old Mario De La Rosa, battling a brain tumor, saw his wish granted by Make A Wish Foundation of West Texas. Friends and family filled his revived room with Blue's Clues decor and a TV VCR as coordinators Jana Crane and Joyce Reed delivered the dream. Local donations from Wal Mart JC Penney and others supported the effort.

Council approves truck and HEAT grant for Del Rio fire department
City council approves replacement of a pumper truck for Del Rio Fire and Rescue funded by a Texas Unmet Needs grant. The grant allocates 377800 dollars for fire vehicles lost in the 1998 flood at no cost to the city. Acting purchasing director Al Casillas notes the two vehicles remain unfunded since the flood.
