Ludlum Named Full Time Federal Magistrate for Del Rio
Alia Moses Ludlum, 38, was sworn in as a full-time federal magistrate for the Western District of Texas in Del Rio. She previously served as a part-time magistrate since January 1997 and will handle initial appearances, plea hearings, and misdemeanor sentencings. Ludlum, a Texas Women’s University and University of Texas Austin alumnus, has led the Del Rio U.S. Attorney’s office effort and chairs local civic roles including Relay for Life.

Search nets victims of crash off Texas coast
Two Navy airmen died when a MH-53E Sea Dragon crashed during a minesweeping training mission off Corpus Christi Texas. Co pilot Lt Edward Fassnacht and Petty Officer David Rutherford were found dead in 55 foot Gulf waters after four airmen were pulled from the water Thursday. Surviving crewmen Jeremy Yaklin and Shawn Palgo were listed in stable condition with injuries.

Harris County deputy shot in motel drug bust
In northwest Houston a Harris County deputy was shot under the right eye during an undercover narcotics buy at a La Quinta Inn. A suspect was killed and another wounded. the officer, E P Roberts, 43, was hospitalized in critical condition. Roberts has served since 1986.
