Lunch price hike okayed by board after closed sessions
After two closed sessions and heated debate, the board approved Interim Superintendent Dr. Ann Dixon’s plan to raise 2000 2001 school year meal prices. Proposed prices include elementary lunch 1.10 and breakfast 0.80. secondary lunch 1.25 and breakfast 1.00. adult lunch 2.50. adult breakfast 1.10. visitor meals 3 and 1.75. Karen Lachada cited rising food costs, supplies, and labor as factors. she noted about 1 million dollars is needed to run a cafeteria for three months and that funds shortfalls force borrowing from the district.

Six arrested in Del Rio linked to fugitive from justice
Del Rio police detained six suspects, five adults and one juvenile, tied to a fugitive sought in a recent roundup. Julian Cano Contreras, 28, faces eight cocaine delivery counts and one marijuana delivery count. Others include Jorge Ramirez, 20, for driving without a license, Leticia Hernandez, 45, on local capias warrants, Brenda E. Texas A&M starts removing logs from bonfire site
