Del Rio Opens WIC Nutrition Program for Low income Families
Del Rio launches the Women, Infants and Children program funded by the U S Department of Agriculture and Texas Health. The city provides office space at 200 Bridge Street for appointments and coupon distribution to nutritionally deficient pregnant women and children under five. ida Gutierrez leads staff with a USDA specialist in town for two weeks to orient workers. Many stores reportedly accept WIC coupons for protein rich iron calcium foods. about 50 to 60 people visited the office today to seek qualification.

Val Verde County Considers County Court At Law
The Val Verde County Bar Association passed a resolution supporting a county court at law to ease caseloads in county and district courts. If approved by the Legislature and Commissioners Court, operation could begin by August 1979 with a judge and county attorney earning at least 25000 annually and serving full time with no private practice.
