The National League Giants defeated the American League Yankees 6 to 1 in New York to open the World Series. Giants bats produced four runs in the eighth inning and Bar tel homered for the Giants while Selkirk homered for the Yankees. Eight hits and one error for the Giants, seven hits and two errors for the Yankees. Battery: Habbell Mancuso for the Giants and Ruf fing Dickey for the Yankees.
