John D. Young, 69, died Tuesday at 1 am in Williams Sanitarium after a paralytic stroke. A Cedartown, Georgia native born January 9, 1867, he lived in Del Rio and on a ranch west of town. Survived by widow Mary Kennedy Young, two sons D L Young Mohank and Bryan Young LaRue, two daughters Mrs C B Chappell Jacksonville and Mrs Curtis Barbee Texon, and a brother Joe Young LaRue. burial in LaRue after body sent from Del Rio.
The Texas House voted 80 to 48 to form a committee to investigate the old age pension administration and to determine revenue needs for maintaining a pension program. Rep. A. Y. McKinley of Huntsville said the move aims to obtain facts for pension tax decisions.
Rome report says Guido Stellingwerft famed Italian pilot and Voce D Italia editor perished with three aviation officers when a fast trimotor bombing plane crashed at Civita Castellana. Stellingwerft held a world record for multi motor tourism planes over 1000 kilometers. He led the Italian anti aircraft protection organization. Cause of the crash was not determined.
Marshalltown Iowa September 29. Judge R L Sheets confronted transient W G Barker begging on the streets. Barker claimed business was good as an officer noted he had 58 dollars and 14 cents. The judge fined him fifty dollars.
Temple faces a rat and mouse surge with downtown stores and homes infested. City sanitary chief W D Staples warns extermination cycles fail without rat-proofing, urging full building improvements for lasting relief and offering guidance.
A telephone caller told Sheriff J A McCollum someone stole his saddle and asked for help. Deputy Jim Burt was assigned to the case, as the sheriff noted Burt had been recovering saddles recently. The caller identified himself as Burt, prompting the sheriff to verify the voice.
Admiral William S. Sims dies at 75 in Boston and will be buried with naval honors at Arlington Cemetery Thursday. Earlier, Oregon fire zones forced evacuations with 70,000 people displaced as fires destroyed two towns and claimed nine lives.

Denver reports eleven dead in Colorado's severe September snow storm. Among the victims is C. Childlaw of El Paso Texas, a pilot whose plane crashed near Denver. Property damage statewide estimated at six million dollars.
DETROIT Sept 2 Cinecult Court jury convicts nine men in the Black Legion kidnap and murder of Charlies A Poole on May 12. Seven defendants including Colonel Harvey Davis found guilty of first degree murder. two guilty of second degree murder. A tenth defendant acquitted.
Funeral services for Mrs Basil Halbert, mother of Mrs Wille B Whitehead, are planned for Tuesday afternoon in Sonora. Mrs Halbert died early Tuesday in a San Angelo hospital. She and her husband lived in Sonora, once home in San Angelo. She was born Ride Ells in Rocksprings, daughter of Judge J. J. Ellis. Survivors include her husband, a son B M Halbert Jr of Sonora, and a daughter Mrs Lloyd P Bloodworth of El Paso.
Last rites for Jef Duff Thompson, 41, were held Monday at First Baptist Church with Rev. L. B. Gilbert officiating. Interment followed at Westlawn Cemetery. Thompson died of pneumonia and complications after a two month illness at his Rio Vista Addition home. He had managed Del Rio Piggly Wiggly stores in various Texas towns. Survived by widow, three children, his mother, three sisters, two brothers. Pallbearers and honorary mourners listed. Out-of-town attendees included relatives from Eagle Pass, Uvalde, and San Antonio.

John Wilson 30 charged with an incident with intent to harm a 13 year old Brackettville girl. The alleged incident dated September 20, occurred in Brackettville. Wilson was called to trial Tuesday morning in district court.
