Two barns totaling 30 tons of prime hay were destroyed by a Saturday night fire near Port Clark. Fire crews from Backrtiville aided, with estimated loss near seven thousand dollars. Private Watson Watcom died after a 2090 volt electric shock while fighting the flames, reportedly on a roof near the burning barn. Watson had served with Troop B Fifth Cavalry.
