The state department informed Representative West that Mexican troops had disarmed a group of Mexicans who seized the Las Rosas ranch near Brownsville on the Rio Grande. The ranch, owned by the J. H. Fernandez estate, faced a claim under Mexican agrarian law. The department consulted Ambassador Daniels in Mexico City and sought action to remove the trespassers.
Mrs F G Bliss 71 died Tuesday at her ranch home five miles west of Brackettville after months of illness and a hospital stay. Funeral services were held Thursday at 3 pm in Brackettville. Surviving are her husband two daughters Mrs Will Dooley and Mrs Jim Bader a son Henry all of Brackettville. Other relatives attended.
At a September 27 dinner in Belton, Baylor College for Women announced plans to liquidate all debts using the Hardin endowment and adopt the new name Mary Hardin Baylor College. The change honors donor Mrs. John C. Hardin while preserving the Baylor legacy, as enrollment gains were also reported for the summer and upcoming year.

FSRC has $20,650 in feed loan applications with 12 loans totaling $10,000 approved. relief rolls reduced from 48 to 22, mostly Mexicans.
Eight Val Verde County youths will enter the Citizens Conservation Corps on October 1. The eight place quota was announced in a letter to E. S. Black, county relief administrator. Eligible ages are 18 to 25 with families on relief rolls. Registration is at the relief office in the old Del Rio National Bank building. Block urged early sign up due to the short registration window.
John Zetterstrom and Alfred Radley were found guilty of robbery with firearms at the Rodriguez station in Comstock and each sentenced to five years. Ezra Zetterstrom, father of John, led a court wedding in the District Court room with Marion Young as bride and the jury watching. The marriage followed a turbulent case that also saw a jail term for the pair while Marion planned to work as a stenographer back in New Jersey.
President Franklin D. Roosevelt intends to appoint a five member board within 24 hours to administer the reorganized recovery unit. General Hugh Johnson has resigned.
Seven inmates escaped from the Oklahoma State penitentiary at McAlester during the night by digging a 20 foot tunnel under the tubercular sanitarium. They fled via a waiting car on the highway north of the prison and left no trail. Earl Williams, among them, was later charged with a cafe holdup in Vernon Texas and was serving a 30 year term for an Oklahoma robbery.
Fort Davis reports the 45 foot high dome on 30 foot high steel walls of the McDonald Observatory began last week. The 82 inch mirror for the telescope was removed from Corning September 10 for cooling and will be inspected by Dr Otto Struve. Warner and Swasey aims to finish the mirror by autumn 1935 using new grinding methods.
Texas Bond Commission advertised for bids on 1 million dollars in state bonds to be received October 6. Proceeds will extend aid to the needy. Public notice from Austin dated September 27.
Five men armed with machine guns held up three Boston Elevated Railway employees at the terminal and escaped with four thousand dollars. The robbery occurred in Boston on September 27.

Jose Rodriguez of San Angelo, organizer of the Sheep Shearers Union of North America for Texas and New Mexico, was indicted by Crockett County grand jury on three counts including perjury and false swearing. Bond set at 1000 for two counts and 500 for the third. he did not post bond immediately.
Detroit authorities issued a first degree murder warrant for M. W. Goodrich a trap drummer and his red haired wife after the body of Lillian Gallagher 11 was found in their apartment. A manager reported a couple matching their description tried to rent an apartment Monday.
Governor Herbert H. Lehman was renominated by the Democratic party in Buffalo New York. President Roosevelt held a long talk with George A. Sloan head of the Cotton Textile Institute about a forthcoming report from the code authority on terms for settling the textile strike. The League of Nations Assembly in Geneva adjourned after Litvinoff suggested a permanent peace conference may inform the United States participation.
Testimony finished in the murder trial of Miss Amy Britain for the Seymour banker Horace Nichols shooting. Arguments began this afternoon as the case moved toward closure.
Jim Chapman 78 a Pandale area ranchman died after his car collided with a second car driven by a colored man about 1.5 miles west of Ozona. He died 14 hours later in Ozona. Survivors include six daughters and four sons plus relatives in Ozona and nearby towns. Funeral plans were reported for Ozona with Cedar Hill Cemetery interment.
General John F O'Ryan resigns as New York police commissioner after accusing Mayor La Guardia of interference and encouraging public disorder. He cites orders to concentrate 1400 police in Harlem and criticizes mass picketing amid strikes and demonstrations.
