In Thomasville Georgia a mob of about a thousand stormed the county jail and fatally harmed Wittie Kirkland after an alleged incident. The crowd dispersed after the killing as authorities moved in to restore order.
A false alarm rang at 7 30 p m Wednesday when a natural gas torch on a C P L tennis court near North Main was mistaken for a blaze. Texas Gas Utilities lit the torch to signal inaugural gas service, with Hotel Roswell and the Devils River plant noted as major local gas customers.
An exhibit intended for Angelo Paw Shown by C. C. features Val Verde County agricultural products arranged in a Chamber of Commerce window in San Angelo. The display shows a Val Verde County sign formed with sticky maize, a Fulube tree with fruit, and a foreground of fresh vegetables including cabbage onion carrot Irish and sweet potatoes.
Interest rose at the goat show in San Angelo linked to the West Texas Exposition. Prize winners include Mrs JA Ward and Sam Senora, with J HH Baldwin, Camp Wood, WP Winans, Rocksprings, WOH Hill, and HP Mathery noted for top animals.
K F Measels sent 3604 head of lambs Wednesday to pasture near Catarina. This followed a prior shipment of about 2900 head last week moving via the South in Pacific lines to San Antonio. Locally it is understood Mr Measels leases pasture land in Dimmit County.
Hollywood notes reveal Clara Bow explained her gambling table visit after a resort manager received large checks she refused to honor. Bow says one cent pieces used at the tables equaled about $100 per chip and she did not understand the gambling procedures.
The State Board of Water Engineers in Austin postponed the Rio Grande water-taking hearing again. Preliminary claims for dam sites extend from Presidio and Brewster Counties to near the gulf, with C. B. Young and Frank S. Robertson presenting locations for ten and five sites respectively for power and irrigation projects.

An adult accused of striking a minor paid a ten dollar fine and costs totaling 21.70 in corporation court on Thursday. He was booked for disturbing the peace after an incident at a bowling alley.
Prominent Dallas cotton broker W1-S N Thompson was found dead today in the locked bathroom of his home. A doctor said he had been dead four or five hours after two shots from an automatic pistol. His wife discovered the body as she opened the bathroom door. Thompson was president of N Thompson and Company cotton brokers.
Minor cases including divorce suits were heard in district court Thursday. The docket may proceed Monday with cases such as Manuel Rome versus Petra hrode Reme and others listed. Several civil matters including damages and notes were continued or awaiting hearing.
Secretary Hyde, Farm Board chairman Levee, and Commerce Secretary Lamont met Chicago Board of Trade representatives in Washington to discuss short selling of wheat by Soviet Russia in the Chicago trading pit.
After a postmortem found poison in the body of J. E. Arnot a former Glasgow Montana banker his wife Anna Arnot was charged with first degree murder. Arnot died a month ago from burns and suffocation. Police say she admitted attempting to burn the body to conceal the poisoning.
A large part of Santo in southern Palo Pinto County burned overnight causing over 12000 dollars in damage. Masonic hall, a grocery, barber shop, cafe and two other buildings were destroyed. origin undetermined. Joe Ford of Brackettville was in Del Rio on business.
A Madison of Madison Motor Co says Del Rio has cheap labor and natural gas power for toys beads and blankets, rivaling Central Europe. He notes high import duties on foreign goods and weak European business, with travel demand down and world cruise sailings cut. the Madisons traveled via Franconia and Tuscania visiting Paris London Vienna Oberammergau.
A Beaumont drive to purge the waterfront of narcotic and whisky dealers began after the deaths of a man and woman believed caused by poison liquor. Mrs Louise Jones 40 and her husband Robert Jones 45 died yesterday and today. An autopsy was planned for Mr Jones.
The first meeting of creditors in the bankruptcy of J M Jones was held in federal court. Discussed were exemptions and matters related to his contracting business in the area.
A Del Rio News tour of Catarina and Winter Garden, Dimmit County, reveals a subterranean lake feeding 75 pumps. Water from depths 700 to 1500 feet irrigates truck farms and citrus groves, turning brushland into a booming agricultural area.
In Austin on September 25 the Republican state executive committee delays in filling vacancies after nominee withdrawals disrupt ballot certification for the November election. The ballot, due for certification, has not been printed and must be sent to county clerks by October 1. Efforts aim to contact GOP officials to rush certification of state nominees. The general ballot will show Democratic Republican Socialist Communist and a blank independents column.
S P officials Carter and Loefller visited Del Rio to oversee a store door delivery service linked to rail operations. T W Waldrop of the Southern Pacific Transport Co also conducted a brief visit before the inauguration. A drayage contractor was contracted to handle delivery and pickup, with local solicitation ongoing.
Geneva September 25. Former U.S. secretary of state and Kellogg Peace Pact author Frank Kellogg was elected judge of the World Court on the first ballot to fill the unexpired term of Charles Evans Hughes.
Wil Hopkins an immigration border patrolman is indicted on aggravated assault and would be tried in county court. The Sept 13 incident involved striking Russell L Snyder with a deadly weapon causing injuries. Warnings include bond set at 500 for Eusebio Romero and other related charges against Alfredo Padilla Jesus Ramos and Sam Tomlinson. Witnesses include Sheriff Bud Whistler and Cpt. O Keefe.

Bobbin Martin son of Mr and Mrs John Martin of Central Street had his tonsils removed on Wednesday morning and is reported recovering well.
