Sells Spring Wool Co. B. Wardlaw, president of the Producers Wool and Mohair Co., Wednesday set 50,000 pounds of Spring short wool to Rudy Vaughn of San Angelo at prices from 294 to 30 cents a pound. The sale brings Wardlaw’s year total to 3,100,000 pounds.

A fire in Missoula Montana forced over 150 people from a four story hotel and destroyed the hotel plus two adjacent buildings in a blaze that caused substantial damage estimated in the hundreds of thousands of dollars.

CARTHAGE September 24 A jury sentenced Terrence Bramlett age 21 to 50 years in the penitentiary for the April 23 murder of Marlie Childs in Center Defense attorneys said there would be no appeal The state sought the death penalty Childs stood in the kitchen when shot through the head with a .22 rifle Mrs Childs will serve 25 years in a local penitentiary for the same crime Both Bramlett and Mrs Childs admitted they had been lovers for months prior to the killing of her estranged husband former Shelby County treasurer
Dolph Briscoe of Uvalde leased the 7000 acre Carla Ranch in southern Dimmit County from Vice President John N. Garner. The deal follows Garner purchasing the ranch from Mrs. Catherine Schott of Cincinnati. The property lies about 15 miles south of Carrizo Springs and borders Briscoe’s Catarina Ranch.
In Athens on September 24 officers charged T. W. Walton age 14 and Robert Morgan age 15 with attempted extortion after they admitted sending an extortion note to farmer Richard Ash, according to Justice Department Agent L. T. Bowman. In Cleveland on September 24 the American Legion voted against U S entry into the League of Nations and opposed debt modifications and loans to defaulting nations. In Dallas on September 24 Mrs Mable H. Green, widow of Col H. R. Green, won a federal judgment granting her half the North Texas property acquired by her husband. sister Betty Wilks failed to answer by midnight.
Wardlaw sells 50 000 pounds of spring short wool to Rudy Vaughn of San Angelo at 29.4 to 30 cents a pound after a prior 300 000 pound Pall sale to Max Robin of Boston. Del Rio monthly total nears 492 000 pounds with Mohair sales exceeding 400 000 pounds at 55 to 65 cents.
The Terrell Chamber of Commerce extends a one year membership to Sam H Walk in recognition of his civic leadership as chamber president. A letter from D E Nicholson and W H Wright accompanies the card praising Walk’s unselfish service to the community and promising support from the directors.
