The Democratic National Committee reports August 31 debt of 417,868.18 tied to 1928 and 1932 campaigns. In six months the deficit fell only about 85,000, while Republicans show a small surplus. If Farley leaves federal post, he could seek funds from officeholders to reduce the deficit for 1936.
M Coney chief landscape architect for the Texas State Parks Board in Austin reports rush plans for Devil's River State Park at Lake Walk. The 500 acre park will utilize two miles of waterfront with 1.5 miles along Devil's River and 0.5 mile along Lake Walk for improvements by Civilian Conservation Corps enrollees.
In Willacy County stockowners report several fine cattle shot dead over recent months. Six calves and a steer were killed at one site, seven cows and a mule lost at another, and a race horse was injured by a buckshot wound. Many cows and calves suffered wounds while whitewings are noted more numerous, drawing more hunters to the area and worrying ranchers.
Wilkerson of Rockford, a Black man, will be paid 5000 by a New York insurance company after the death of his trained rat terrier Tennessee. The claim, insured for 5000, was ratified today by the insurer.
Del Rio Independent School District and San Felipe Independent School District report 2460 registrations in the first week of the new term. Del Rio totals include 1435 pupils with growth in High School and various elementary counts. Panama City September 16. Pilot Robert Marstrand and eight passengers aboard a Malek airlines airliner were killed when the craft crashed in the mountains near Bejuco, 56 miles from the city. A search with eight U S Army planes followed. Passengers included two school girls, an American named A Dahl, and Juan Pino, mayor of David.

Work on the park along Highway No 3 at San Felipe Creek began with about 10 men and three teams. An eight acre tract will feature wooden pegged walkways later covered with crushed rock, plus a crescent pond 18 inches to 8 feet deep. Water will feed the pond via a hydraulic ram from the creek, creating an artificial spring with two rock cascades and two canals. Ramsey's Austin Nursery will beautify the area, a gift of Val Verde County to the state for the highway park.

The Lawrence Latta murder case before Judge Lamar Thaxton in Mason was continued to September 30 due to defense attorney Morris's illness and the absence of key witnesses. Latta is charged with killing his wife Estele Calk Latta with gunshot wounds on March 8, 1932, in an apartment on North Min Street.
