Linus W Martin was found Friday morning alive and well by local authorities who had investigated a report of his death. Gilmer Texas received word that reports of his killing were erroneous.

Senator William Gibbs McAdoo and Miss Doris Cross daughter of Nellie Cross of San Diego will marry tomorrow afternoon at the home of the senator's daughter in Washington. The engagement was announced in the senator's Washington office. McAdoo has been married twice before. his second wife Eleanor Wilson, daughter of President Wilson, is now divorced.

Amarillo reports Captain Taylor Branson leader of the U S Marine Band may wear a Texas ten gallon hat at the vice president’s dinner for the president. The band came to Amarillo for a Confederate veterans reunion where Branson received the hat and asked permission to wear it at the upcoming event.
Lubbock plans a publicity push for the Panhandle South Plains Fair set for September 23 to 28. Four planes with pilots and eight boosters visited Plains Tatum Lovington and Hobbs, flying about 190 mph and covering 225 miles in a day. A $40,009 sulphur plant at Orla near Pecos, Texas, started refining sulfur from deposits west of town. Jim and H. Wood of Henderson, Texas, own the mill. Two carloads of refined sulphur have been shipped to Fort Worth.

Nat Malone was named Val Verde County livestock inspector by County Judge Clarence Herreford. Created after a grand jury request, the office will oversee livestock slaughter, record bills of sale and brands, and require monthly reports from all butchers to deter theft. Duties begin September 16.
SAN ANGELO Sept. 13.4 Tra G Yates oil man for whom the Yates oil field is named has purchased the A R Bud Kuykendall ranch near Cherokee in San Saba County from the Illinois Cattle Company of Chicago. The 5400 acre tract lies along Cherokee Creek. About nine years ago Yates bought his first San Saba ranch the old Green place along Fall Creek. A number of smaller tracts have been added until it comprises a good portion of San Saba County.
Pouring of the sixth slab resumed Friday on the Felipe Creek bridge as relief labor returned after a one day layoff. Two more slabs remain to be poured before the bridge is completed.
The vicinity should stay generally fair with tonight and Saturday forecasts. Yesterday’s high reached 85 degrees and the low 63, with this morning’s low at 64 in Texas.
