Del Rio Independent School District reports total enrollment of 1354 students after the second day of classes. Girls outnumber boys 678 to 676 with counts across four schools and the high and junior schools showing gender splits. Harold Ward from Guernsey City chosen as vocational agriculture teacher will arrive soon to replace R H Rogers who resigned last week.
All highways in and out of Del Rio were open again Wednesday, the State Highway Department reported. After days of closures due to high waters, traffic resumed on all routes as repairs and flood conditions eased.
Mrs Jean Bello mother of Jean Harlow files divorce against Marino Bello for cruelty in Los Angeles. The complaint cites marital strain and seeks dissolution of marriage in the county court.

Paul Pong and his wife were marooned on a hillside by the Dry Devil's River for 55 hours during a flash flood while en route to San Angelo with Will Rogers film reels. They endured constant rain and rising water, built rock flood gauges, and were eventually rescued by a highway department truck and a planelanded supply drop. Mrs Poag showed no ill effects after the ordeal.

Judge Charles L. Klapproth of Midland was appointed by Gov. Allred to preside over a state suit for about 250 acres of Pecos County oil land. The case involves the permanent school fund recovery of land and about 5 million dollars from oil previously produced, with four major oil companies and about 100 individuals as defendants.
Berlin reports Nazis purge public schools forcing Jewish children ages six to fourteen to leave by next Easter. Bernard Rust, Prussia’s culture and education commissioner, announces the measure as the Nazi party convention opens in Nurnberg and vows separate Jewish schools will be created.
