Del Rio youths push toward major wins as Bud McKinney advances to the semifinals in Oklahoma City and Doodles Boles reaches the finals in San Antonio. McKinney, noted for a puzzling unorthodox style, defeats Meppy Massengil of Fort Worth in the quarterfinals.
In Oklahoma City on September 5 Nelson of Fort Worth is one up on Bad McKinney after 18 holes of the 36 hole semi final. Both shot 74 for the first 18, but McKinney three putts the 18th green to trail by one.
Amairut and Nichyol Titik reach the finals at the Oklahoma City event as Kinnyee teams with Byron Nel wn in a semi final. Carl Boins faces Jerry Hi for the title while San Antonio’s Edgar O Quinn and Lorraine Young each win their semis.
The report notes one of the warmest Augusts in recent years with every day above 90 and a mean temperature of 87 degrees. In Dallas on September 6 Dieucienne Coste and Maurice Bellont prepared to depart for Louisville after a celebrated flight from Paris to the United States. Manager Rene Racover said they carried the awe of the Southwest as their sesquiplane Ques tion Mark was inspected in Dallas before takeoff.

Harold G Myers leads window displays and prizes while A Edwards heads finance and Ralph Johns handles arrangements. L Wise received a Class A permit for a Alpine to Del Rio truck line from the State Railroad Commission at Christoval yesterday. J F P House and E C Fisher of Sanderson testified on the line’s convenience and necessity.
Alfred F Hodges 51 ranchman of Edwards County died in a local hospital Friday morning after several months illness. He had surgery in July and returned home before worsening in recent days. Born in Gonzales he married Elizabeth Murrin Menard in 1898. A Masonic funeral will be held Saturday at 4 pm in Junction at the Methodist Church with the funeral party departing Del Rio Friday. Survived by his widow two children two sisters and two brothers.
A petition contesting the Democratic nomination for Upton county judge was filed Thursday with party chairman W. H. Holcomb. Incumbent C. H. Larson was declared defeated by M. L. Harris on certified returns from the second primary. Judge Latson of Rankin and Harris of McCamey are involved in the protest.
Consul Lisandro Pena reports eighty tourist permits issued by the Mexican consulate over the past three weeks to fishermen hunters and other visitors. Several travelers crossed the Rio parbes on Friday and Saturday, with some travelers providing themenives.
Eight people were injured in two automobile crashes near Del Rio late Thursday. all were released by Friday. Mrs. H. A. Moorefield suffered a deep forehead gash. others had minor cuts. The crashes occurred on Highway No. 90 and a ditch near the Qualia residence as the group headed toward San Antonio.
