Denver, Sept. 3. The city’s stock yards handled 1 650 000 sheep since January 1, making Denver the world's largest market for sheep this year. Chicago previously led. 1 535 000 sheep moved through Chicago yards. In August Denver received 310 000 sheep, up 95 900 from August 1935, with yearly receipts 209 009 head higher than last year.
A three year old Dallas boy playing with his grandfather’s pistol shot himself in the lung in Fort Worth. The child asked for a real gun to hunt wildcats. the grandfather had not unloaded the pistol. He was wounded high on the right chest and rushed to a hospital.
Morgenthau said the Treasury will borrow up to 400 million dollars in fall financing operations and keep a working balance around 1.0 billion. Net borrowing for the year should not exceed 750 million, and the balance has been reduced by 800 million this year due to conditions abroad.
Anchorage dispatch reports pilot Al Horning said a rescue party found pilot Steve Mills and five passengers dead by the wreckage of Mills plane on the Kenai Peninsula. The fishing party had left here Sunday and were reported missing.
Aubrey Hudson the U S Border Patrol chief patrol inspector and David Young were elected members of the Lions Club at the regular luncheon meeting in the Roswell Hotel Thursday. Dr. Hester Brewer Smith aged 46, brother of Dallas publisher Wil ford B Smith, was found dead at his home in Dallas with a 38 caliber pistol beside him. A bullet entered his mouth and lodged at the back of the neck. he had been ill for about a month.
Del Rio and Villa Acuna organize a caravan to Saltillo to urge governor of Coahuila to back a Villa Acuna Saltillo highway via Allende and Laredo Monterrey route. Joe Caleyo leads the group. George E. O Neill former manager of the Del Rio Wool & I SiGe YSA resigned effective September 1. A new manager will be elected at a directors meeting September 10. O Neill came to Del Rio in 1930 from Houston where he worked with Federal Intermediate Credit Bank.
A Georgia ceremony in Knoxville marks the 100th anniversary of Joanna Troutman’s flag gift to volunteers moving to Texas. Former Texas governor O B Colquitt, keynote speaker, notes Troutman devised the single star emblem later adopted as the Texas banner. The granite marker and bronze tablet were unveiled by Frank Troutman Jr. and Mary Emma McCrary, with WPA support and Stiles A. Martin presenting the memorial.
King Edward fell from a skiff at a Greek watering place when it overturned but escaped unhurt. The incident occurred as he was rowing with companions.

John A. Qualia filed a protest with the Democratic executive committee of Val Verde County alleging that the August 22 run off in Precinct No 10 San Felipe was unlawfully conducted.
