The Central Parent-Teacher Association will host the Inter-County Council of the PTA in Del Rio on October 24 with members from Brackettville Langtry Comstock San Felipe ISD North Heights Del Rio Central Elementary and West End Elementary Schools. The Val Verde County Red Cross chapter offers a second first aid class this Friday at 7 pm in City Hall with Dr Joe J Sanders as instructor. The inaugural class meets Tuesdays at City Hall led by Dr Thos M Johnson, with 11 Border Patrol men 7 from Texas Gas Distributing and 3 from Texas Gas Utilities attending, plus several from Illinois Pipe Line and any interested person may join free of charge.

LOS ANGELES September 1 centenarian E Miller who turned 100 April 6 walked eight miles to a doctor's office after feeling unwell. The doctor urged rest, he walked home then to church and plans to return to Bath England next October.
State police report John Guillory a fugitive convict shot and killed in Rayne Louisiana while resisting arrest. He escaped in 1985 from the Louisiana Penitentiary where he was serving a life term for murder.
President Roosevelt on a West tour discusses drought relief and farm land drought damage with Governors Berry of South Dakota and Miller of Wyoming aboard his train. He notes ongoing federal state cooperation, potential CCC enrollment for 500 to 600 drouth families in Wyoming, and emphasis on long term land use planning.
