Austin May 27 Governor James V Alfred urged a special session of the Legislature to ban legalized gambling on horse racing in Texas. Mrs L F Porter returned to Del Rio from Paiforrias after attending the funeral of her sister Mrs Bettie Hull who died May 18 and was buried May. Hull was survived by a daughter Bettie Lou and a son Buck 20. Hull had often visited Del Rio with Porter.
Stanford Payne a former representative from the 87th Legislative District now with the State Health Department in Austin visited Del Rio on Thursday. He arrived that day and planned to return to Austin on Friday.
Secretary Wallace announced support for a proposed 1937 Agricultural Adjustment Act backed by major farm organizations. Officials say the administration plans to add a broad fair trade practices program to wage and hour legislation at next year’s session. Geneva May 27 The Spanish government accused Italy of the most scandalous violation of international principles since World War I. It presented to the League of Nations a compilation of alleged Italian war documents charging Italy with being a truly belligerent power in the Spanish civil war as Britain in London abandoned plans for an armistice in Spain.
Byron Saunders of Tver state and Texas Junior Chamber president visited Del Rio Thursday morning en route to Tyler from San Angelo. He spoke informally with Del Rio Junior Chamber president Dowllas Newton and was joined by Bert Francis of Tyler, state secretary, during the stop.

Under direction of Mrs Ray Ross and others, the group includes Dorothy Farrell, Louise Elmore, Katherine Bonner, Nellie Salvatierra, and many more, who will wear blue and gold overseas caps.

A chartered monoplane faltered during takeoff about 100 feet up, spun, caught fire, and exploded as it struck the ground near Maria Almort.
