John D Rockefeller's funeral in Pocantico Hills was simple and private with limited attendees. The body arrived from Ormond Beach on a Pullman car and will be buried in Cleveland after a quiet service. flags at half staff marked the occasion.

In Gillespie Illinois on May 26 about 80 older pupils joined 200 Wilsonville grade school children in a protest backing the underground sit down strike of over 350 Superior Coal Company miners. Children carried signs such as We Support Our Dad and marched to the mine property as the sit down strike reached its seventh day with limited negotiations over evacuation.
A statement to the Massachusetts Commissioner of Corporations and Taxation shows Ford Motor Company reporting a net profit of 26,426,698 dollars for the last year, equal to 765 dollars per share on capital stock. Governor Allred signals no compromise on repealing the horse race betting law during the special legislative session. Edmund Burke Rose aged 59 died Monday after a prolonged illness. Funeral rites were conducted Tuesday afternoon at 430 in First Methodist Church by Rev. C Beasley. Interment followed at Masonic Cemetery with Doran Funeral Home in charge. Surviving: widow, two children Roger Rose of Sanderson and Mrs Lannis Wooten of Del Rio, three grandchildren, three brothers, two sisters.
The Court of Criminal Appeals affirmed the death sentence for George Patton, 55, Henderson County farmer, for the 1932 murder of Carrie McGehee on the Patton farm near Athens. He was also charged with slaving Mrs. McGehee husband and two children, after skeletal remains were found in Patton's cow lot.
The Public Works Administration announced Texas received grants totaling 35,219,138 dollars for projects costing 108,977,298 dollars with applicants supplying 73,758,070 dollars.
