Customs officers in Kinney County seized 13 cases of alcohol and 10 cases of whiskey along with a Chevrolet truck Sunday morning. The driver was jailed locally while federal authorities investigate. Fort Worth residents are named as probable suspects in the two major seizures, with another earlier haul of 255 gallons reported.
Memorial Day observance organized by the American Legion includes a memorial address by Charies Nixie and a gravesite demarcation at Westtown Cemetery. The event invites war dead relatives and local members to attend, with support from the American Legion Auxiliary of Del Rio and Baptist Church volunteers.

In Austin on May 24 the Texas Supreme Court overruled James E Ferguson's rehearing bid. The court confirmed its decision that he is not entitled to a place on the Democratic primary ballot as a candidate for governor.
Houston on May 26 will celebrate being first in Texas with a large parade. Several bands and civic organizations will participate.
Livestock receipts at Kansas City Monday totaled about 7 000 sheep and 14 000 hogs with 9 000 cattle and 1 000 calves. Fed lambs and springers rose 25 to 50 cents, top Arizona spring lambs hit 11.95, natives 11 50, top shorn ewes 5 75. Cattle and veal markets showed weakness with stockers scarce and calves and hogs down 10 to 15 cents at market open.
Graduating class of 1930 at Del Bin Wigt School heard Rev. Charles Nixon deliver a baccalaureate sermon on the theme look forward from Paul’s letters. He urged graduates to pursue honest labor, wealth with restraint, and a life of service to shape America’s future. The ceremony at First Baptist Church included music and prayers as students prepared to begin new paths.
County board of school trustees discussed tuition fees related to transferring pupils from common-school districts to Del Rio. The board stayed in session most of the day, with no definite actions taken on matters under consideration, according to County Superintendent Mrs. Bessie Way Lowe. The meeting was held at the superintendent's office.
In Washington on May 26 the Supreme Court ruled in the Farrar case that purchasing liquor for personal use is lawful under the Volstead Act. James Farrar bought liquor from bootleggers for own use and was charged under the act’s prohibition on purchase under certain conditions. The decision addresses conflicts where federal judges had cited buying from bootleggers as unlawful.
Bentonville Ark May 26 Dr Andrew J Bass retired dentist and landowner of Columbia Mo was sentenced to life imprisonment after pleading guilty to killing Willan Pearman and another town resident to collect 200000 insurance. The case ties to plans for a highway from Villa Acuna to Piedras Negras in Coahuila with local officials expressing optimism about improved roads and tourism.
San Angelo May 26 Sealed bid auction will offer seven million pounds of eight months wool from the Wool and Mohal Warehouse Assoc of Texas. The entire clip may be sold or none. About 2.009 million pounds of 12 months wool had been sold since May 15 and 1500000 pounds were sold last Friday and Saturday. Prices ranged from 20 cents to 27 cents per pound top. Four or five million more pounds expected at the sale house.
UE buys the Ross Drug Store property on South Main at Canal Street for 22,690 dollars. The deed records a 45 5 6 foot frontage and 105 varns depth, with a one half interest in the south wall owned by FL Swift. Cash payment 6,700 dollars and a note of 11,000 dollars plus 390 dollars interest. A separate transfer shows Mrs. Cooper purchasing five lots in College Heights block 4D facing Fourteenth Street for 1,500 dollars.

In Crowley Louisiana a free for all gun and knife fight broke out in a dance hall injuring twelve participants. Four men were seriously wounded and the dance hall agent was lightly hurt. Two horses were killed by stray bullets as about twenty men were involved. cause of the brawl is not known.
City detectives said they will continue to investigate the shooting of William Murphy a 22 year old Texas University student at a fraternity house Saturday night A ballet pierced Murphy’s left breast but one student is out of danger and the wound is not expected to prove serious Murphy said the shooting was accidental
Funeral services were held in Pearsall for Mrs. Ben Speer of Pearsall sister-in-law of Pred Speer and Bill Speer of Del Rio. She died suddenly Sunday in Pearsall and is survived by her husband and two young sons. Fred Speer traveled to Pearsall Sunday and Bill Speer went Monday.
Five people die when a car collides with a New York Central train at a crossing in Crittenden New York. Victims are Elmer Christener Samuel Miller Mamie Miller Kate Miller and Eleanor Miller.
Nelson who formerly was principal in the San Felipe Schools was elected superintendent of the high school. The board announced the election after Sunday teacher selections in East Del Rio Schools. The board listed Nelson along with Engelking as principal for the last year and Leona Daniel as principal of School No. 1.
About 3000 people crossed the international bridge for Mrs. Crosby's Cafe opening and a Sabinas Stadium bull fight. 1000 cars crossed on Saturday night. A woman matador and two men led the bull spectacle, with one bull killed. Governor Nazario S Ortiz Garza and Senora Gara attended. no arrests were reported.
Pedro Reyes, 18, a cafe bus boy, was charged with murder after W. T. Langford, 49, a street car motorman, was killed when Reyes’ car wrecked his street car. Witnesses said Reyes was speeding at about 50 miles per hour.

A lone bandit robbed the Del Rio Saloon in Villa Acuna Sunday night stealing more than 950 dollars after setting fire to a car outside. He fled north toward the Rio Grande, dropping bills along the way and injuring a worker with a wrecking bar. Authorities tracked the suspect into the American side near Renteria Vega, with partial descriptions and a burned Ford coupe destroyed by the blaze.
The Pacific liner City of Honolulu burned into the upper sections and began sinking in Hawaii's harbor. All passengers were removed, harbor boats aided in firefighting, and the blaze’s cause remained undetermined though fuel oil and potassium quantities were noted as risks.
