Charles Hurd three, son of Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Hurd, died in Del Rio Hospital from food poisoning after eating a green apricot. Funeral set for Friday at Sacred Heart Church with Fr. A. J. Taillon. interment Sacred Heart Cemetery. Survivors include parents a brother David maternal grandmother Mrs. M. Barker of El Paso and paternal grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Charles R. Hurd of Martinsville Virginia. Mrs. Barker and daughter Miss Mabel Barker traveled from El Paso to Del Rio Friday morning.
Colonel Alexander F. Williams former assistant quartermaster general was convicted by an army court martial and sentenced to dismissal. He solicited and obtained a $2000 loan from a representative of an automobile tube company tied to war department contracts and denied the loan before the House committee.

Rainfall across Val Verde and nearby counties ends three year drought in parts of Sanderson country. Burke and Landon Rose ranches record .61 inch while Langtry reports .89 inch and Sonora totals reach 2.45 inches. Del Rio totals rise to 3.57 inches for the month.
Charles M. Richter named rural supervisor for Val Verde and 19 other Texas counties. J. E. Stanford announced in Austin that six rural supervisors were added as districts were reorganized to handle growth in the rural rehabilitation program amid the farming season. District counties include Brewster Culberson Crane Crockett Ector El Paso Glasscock Hudspeth Jeff Davis Kimble Loving Presidio Reagan Reeves Schleicher Sutton Terrell Upton and Winkler.

Clyde Gris son district judge at Haskell was appointed associate justice of the 11th Court of Civil Appeals at Eastland by Governor James V. Allred. Grisson succeeds W P Leslie who was named chief justice to fill the vacancy created by Chief Justice J E Hickman’s move to the Supreme Court Commission of Appeals.
