Four Die in Uvalde County Shooting Trio
On May 22 a shooting three miles north of here left four dead and one wounded. Victims include Mrs William Helbig Sr and Mrs Jarrett Sampler found in a bed, with Mrs Helbig on the porch. The scene moved to William Helbig Jr’s home where his wife was shot in the arm and Jarrett Sampler was killed. a murder complaint was filed against William Helbig Jr. He was released on his own recognizance. Justice of the Peace David White said Mrs Jarrett Sampler and Mrs William Helbig Sr plus Louie Helbig died from gunshot wounds inflicted by Sampler.
