Pilot G A MacDonald and co pilot E R Stehick left Del Rio for the Brinkley Farm in East La Porte North Carolina aboard Dr John R Brinkley s plane carrying the Brinkleys and their son Johnnie The group planned to fly to New York then depart for a European tour where Dr Brinkley would attend a Rotary International convention in Nice France as a delegate from a local club Also aboard were Mrs Marshall Smith and her son Bobby They stopped in San Antonio and continued to Dallas before resuming the flight on Thursday morning
