Three formal charges of murder were filed against Joe Shields in Brownwood on May 17 tied to statements by his estranged wife Opal Mae and her parents, J. B. Shields and wife. Shields is held in an unknown jail for safekeeping. Rumors of mob violence circulate as triple funeral services are planned for victims at Trieckhan on Monday.
A mob of about 500 men cornered Mobile, the black man accused of stabbing Southern Pacific agent Goodman, in a wooded area near Oakdale, Texas. After a volley, Mobile was found alive with seven bullet wounds. the incident follows a broader spree of racial violence and mob rule in the area.

Del Rio will receive natural gas service by July 1 as Texas Gas Utilities plans a 63 mile main line from Maverick county to Devil's River. About 2,000 customers in Del Rio are expected, with main line pipe 10 inches OD and laterals 4 to 6 inches. Regulators will adjust pressure to burners at four city districts.

New Orleans May 17 Howard Damoree stopped talking at age two and was thought stubborn. At seven he began school and sat two years without speech. A teacher gave him a talking doll and he immediately spoke, saying mama and papa, ending seven years of silence as he learns to talk again.
George K Deaton files a $10,750 damage suit in district court against Carl Cromwell over a January 29 1930 wreck on the Comstock Ozona road. Deaton alleges Cromwell drunk and speeding drove left of center causing injuries including two broken teeth and chest trauma. He seeks $2,500 for lost wages $5,000 for pain and suffering and $250 for car damages plus other damages.
Work on the Loop Road halted Saturday after Houston Surfacing Company began surfacing Friday. North and south sections to be surfaced from the Prank Qualia residence on Lovers Lane with plans to resume Monday. John Henry of Recksprings visited Thursday.

In Boise, Idaho, Atlanta once a mining camp town of 5900 people in Elsmere County is now a ghost city with 47 residents.
John W. Brady, once an appellate court judge, is found guilty of murder without malice in the Lehila Frighemith slaying after a 2 1/2 hour Dallas district court deliberation. The jury imposes a three year sentence. an appeal is planned. Brady sobs as verdict is read.
Central Power and Light Company acquired seven lots on Devil's River road to build another ice plant for Del Rio. Sam Walk, local manager, said a formal announcement would come from the company soon and whether construction will begin this summer remains undecided. The site lies after the Southern Pacific tracks on the road’s right side. CP&L already operates two ice plants with a combined 75 tons daily capacity and a long ice deck for refrigerator cars.
Troops of the Fifth Cavalry returned to Fort Clark from the Nueces River area where they had been engaged in mimic warfare, according to information received from Brackettville on Saturday.
