Howard Wall, 13, was charged in Texarkana Arkansas with murder after a confession to District Attorney Elmer Lincoln. He said he killed Austin Feutral, a Springdale farmer, on his front porch Saturday night over a disclosed trust issue with the father of Feutral's daughter.
The city board of equalization, appointed by the City Commission, will hold its first session tonight at 7 PM to review renditions of property within city limits. Members A Batot W M Speer and Bryan Kelley were named by the Commission and will meet again Friday and possibly Saturday. Protests to values will be heard later this month after change notices are mailed to property owners, as City Clerk E F Howard stated.
Berlin May 15 three more executions followed Hitler’s refusals of pardons. Sophie Weber and Karl Schulze were beheaded at Ulm and Gottfried Past faced the headsman in Dresden. All were found guilty of murder in the first degree.
Webb County plans speak of a record cantaloupe crop with about 1000 acres under cultivation in the Laredo district. Sun-grown fields include 200 acres on the Laredo Plantations and 200 on the Wormser Brothers farm. Shipments are expected to begin by May 25.
LUBBOCK May 15. One hundred and ten students in the arts and sciences division will be candidates for degrees at Spring commencement, Dean J. M. Gordon announced. Bachelor degrees will be sought by 15 in business education nine in science in education nine in arts in education 15 in arts in sciences 20 in arts in social sciences and 42 in arts in language and music.
Washington May 18 Deadlock threatened today over extending NRA rules. Senate leaders demand a 10 month extension while House Democrats push for a two year extension sought by President Roosevelt. Speaker Byrns says the House will likely insist on two years.
The $900,000 revenue bond election failed 740 to 573 in San Angelo Tuesday. If approved, the bonds would fund a municipal light and power plant. Voters restricted to property owners taxed on property. J. D. Burns, former mayoral candidate, spoke in support to about 150 to 200 attendees.
Maverick County approved the incorporation election and Quemado adopted a commission form of government. Notary D F Witherspoon officiated the oath of Mayor Carl B Casey and Commissioners C V Lee and C H Stages, each posting $3000 bonds. The commission named Dr G W Morris city officer Tom Brewington fire chief and Aubrey McAlister city clerk.
Carlos Cuellar was found guilty by a District Court jury of perjury and sentenced to two years in prison. The verdict came after a 2:45 p.m. reading following a trial that began at 2 p.m. The perjury charges stem from Cuellar’s April 1935 burglary trial regarding an alleged crime on December 8, 1934. Jury members included Marvin Ellis and E S DeLoach among others.
The Texas Supreme Court rules the state holds title to all minerals in 3.9 million acres of school land forfeited and repurchased under 1925 acts and, under the relinquishment act, claims half the bonus and rentals and half the royalty. Ralph Yarborough says the decision could yield between a half million and a million dollars now and future shares on leases.
Prof Will M Winton head of geology at Texas Christian University recalls students in 1913 who walked five to eight miles for field trips. He contrasts with later students who preferred riding and cites lack of cars radios and streetcars as factors. Freshmen were easily herded and sophomores offered shower bath tickets catalogs and chapel seats.
The Laredo district Bermuda onion crop of 1935 is expected to have about 1050 to 1100 carloads moved to market by Thursday. The Federal State Marketing Service field office, opened April 3 under R. G. Risser, closed May 4 and moved to Corpus Christi.
Washington reports scientists warned of dwindling United States oil. Pratt of Humble Oil estimates 10 to 12 billion barrels of proved reserves, with discoveries failing to keep pace with production. If trends continue, oil would run out in about 25 years. conservation and coal gasolene alternatives urged.
Texas wool and mohair dealers will voice views on a proposed AAA license to regulate trade practices and selling charges starting Jan 1 1936. Hearings begin July 2 in Boston and August 1 2 at San Angelo with a five grower and four dealer advisory board and AAA administration funding.
The Texas Tech Alumni Association aims to attract 20 000 out of town visitors for the college decennial celebration in Lubbock scheduled November 9 11. The event marks the school’s 10th anniversary.
Rainfall reached 2.7 inches at Eagle Pass with hail reported south of Sanderson tearing roofs from ranch houses and soaking areas to Quemado. San Angelo observed 1.25 inches with additional showers in Sonora and Christoval. Del Rio avoided a repeat of March windstorm but street traffic dwindled for about an hour.
Rain fell across most of West and North Texas last night and today. Ranchmen and farmers celebrated the prospect of normal cotton and grain yields, with prospects bright for summer ranges. The Panhandle and south plains wheat crop, however, received no rain.
Del Rio man E B Wootton was stabbed in Bruni by a butcher employee on Saturday. He is hospitalized in Laredo in critical condition but showed slight improvement taking light nourishment. Suspect J Peterson was arrested and held in Laredo Jail. Wootton had traveled from Del Rio for a private business trip.

The weather outlook calls for showers in Del Rio and vicinity tonight with Thursday partly cloudy. A high yesterday reached 87 and a low of 72 with morning low at 72. Showers are expected in the East tonight, with the North area becoming partly cloudy and slightly warmer.
