Pittsburgh May 14 Chairman Philip Murray announced a 7 day truce ending the walkout of 27000 Jones and Laughlin Steel workers. The agreement will hold until next week when a Wagner Act election is held. Police used tear gas as pickets clashed at Aliquippa plants.

Houston is recommended as the site for a Texas plant with 6 million pound capacity, costing about 175 million dollars to build, serving Del Rio, San Angelo, and Plains Panhandle wools.
John Lincoln Clem known as the Drummer Boy of Chickamauga dies at 86 in San Antonio. He enlisted at age 10, served through the Civil War, rose to brigadier general by 1915, and retired as major general after a long Army career. He was the last Civil War veteran on active list. Born Newark Ohio in 1851, he joined via a baggage car escape to the 22nd Michigan Infantry then served in Chickamauga Shiloh and later battles including Atlanta.
Nineteen colorful aircraft brought about 40 persons to Del Rio Thursday on the 1937 Texas State Air Tour led by Buck Rowe of the Department of Commerce. The group stayed overnight, toured nearby towns, and plan to finish in Austin after a week of stops that include Corpus Christi and Houston.
The Producers' Woo! and Mi tia Company sold 2490 pounds of eight month wool at 38 cents a pound. Wardlaw, president of the company, announced the sale Friday. The clip, owned by Clyde Seber, was sold to Joe Hurcer at San Angelo.

In Austin a man described as Herman Hick was shot and killed after a confrontation in a hotel. State Rep Br ain 67 of Beaumont faces murder charges. Rep Quinn posted a $1,000 bond and was questioned as a witness. Detectives say Hicks was found fatally shot in the hotel hallway while Hicks’ companion John Sterrett says neither he nor Hicks threatened Quinn.
Hollywood May 14 Ward Hamilton of the central strike committee said Wednesday that high salaried stars are providing substantial financial support to the strike by 10 movie studio crafts unions. He noted star sentiment is with the strikers despite the Screen Actors Guild peace with producers.
May 14 in New Braunfels a 3 year old boy died when he found an old handgun in a neighbor’s yard and it discharged. District Justice Ber Paus ruled a fatal accident after Denis Sheriff Lonnie p Dietert investigated the scene.
