Ray mond Hamilton, linked to Major Crowson's murder during a prison break, was executed by electric chair and brought to Dallas for burial. He and partner Joe Palmer were executed within minutes of each other, after a last supper menu. Hamilton's mother visited briefly, but no crowd gathered at the burial site.
Miss Camille Openshaw a Houston attorney and former Del Rican who defended Hamilton visited Del Rio where she had studied in 1911 while her father served as assistant postmaster. Hamilton lost hope of a writ of habeas corpus after Openshaw returned from Austin where the petition was denied by the court of appeals. Lee Simmons the prison manager said he later regained some composure.
In Austin on May 10 hundreds of bills and constitutional amendments, including much of Governor Allred's program, were discarded as closing hour rules took effect. Also in Travis County the grand jury returned indictments charging Howard Pierson, 20, with the murder of his parents, Associate Justice and Mrs. William A. Pierson, on a secluded road near Austin. trial date not set.
The Navy ordered censorship on all communications to hide the 46 sea planes that departed Pearl Harbor for Midway Island to take part in wartime maneuvers. Their exact location remained known only to the Navy.
Hon. Stanford Payne of Del Rio, the 87th district representative, is recommended for Commissioner of Agriculture. In his first term, he has built an enviable record including a successful bill exempting Texas Federation of Women's Clubs property from taxation.
Del Rio Independent School District teachers receive salaries below the state median for similar districts. Superintendent Roy M. Andrews told the board that a April questionnaire to 63 districts shows Del Rio pay trails Texas averages. Elementary teachers earn 84.72 monthly vs 92.89 statewide. junior teachers 94.72 vs 103.75. the superintendent earns about 150 yearly less than many districts. Summer school runs May 27 if enrollment allows, with select faculty names named and a limit of one course per student.
Mr. and Mrs. C. B. Couch of Vernon were elected superintendent and matron of the I. O. O. F. Widows and Orphans home at Corsicana by the Odd Fellows Board on May 1.
Rome reports Emperor Haile Selassie is rapidly mobilizing Ethiopian troops near the Italian colonies frontier. The Giornale dItalia claims thousands are under arms with large war materiel, allegedly supplied by Germany, and says mobilization is of an offensive nature.
Washington reports show more than 200 send a dime letters to the President prompting post office officials to consider fraud orders blocking mail to known writers. If issued, mail could be returned with fraudulent stamps while dead letter mail would be sent to the dead letter office.
A petition circulated among House members with 155 signatures urges Rep. Stanford Payne of Del Rio to announce his candidacy for commissioner of agriculture. Payne, 45, Kaufman County native, married, in his first legislative term, says they should focus on the people’s business and defer politics to next year.
Two railroads will build new sheds in McKinney to handle a larger onion crop expected to move by May 28. T C Martin of the Southern Pacific says a 150 by 38 foot shed has been contracted, the third such facility in as many years.
Washington attends funeral services for United States Senator Bronson M Cutting of New Mexico, killed in a Missouri airliner crash. The Roswell based magnate, Harvard graduate, wealthiest New Mexican, owned newspapers incl Santa Fe New Mexican, and once faced questions on his Senate seat.
Senate Democrats in conference support extending the NRA only to April 1 1936. House leaders favor a two year extension. The two sides appear on track for a clash to reconcile the differing proposals as the congressional session aims to wind up by early June.
Partly cloudy conditions in Del Rio and vicinity with a warmer trend. Yesterday reached a high of 92 and a low of 72, with this morning recording 64 degrees.

In Austin on May 10 the Senate Affairs Committee recommended the Senate return the House resolution seeking removal of J E B McDonald from the agricultural commission. If evidence warrants, the House should consider impeachment charges. The resolution cites nine misconduct allegations centered on jack and stallion fund administration.
Tyler introduces a new one way traffic system around the courthouse square. Two 80 foot wide streets border the square and only allow one directional flow with no left turns. Parking in the center is removed and two district lanes prevent cross traffic at intersections. Officials say the plan greatly eases congestion.

A historic San Antonio flood following 6.11 inches of rain and strong winds killed one man, Bill Kearns, who was swept from his stalled car in Martinez Creek. Five others in the vehicle were rescued by firemen as hundreds were forced from their homes and damages may reach a million dollars.
San Angelo reports firemen rescued a woman and two children from a normally dry city creek after a heavy rainstorm drenched the area. The Tom Green Schleicher County line ranches saw one to six inches of rain and Abilene measured about 4 inches. Beaumont noted an inch in half a day.
City Commission advertises bids for two motor driven centrifugal pumps, a salvage contract for 3,486 feet of pipe, and relay of 2,919 feet of pipe. Bids due May 25. Pumps to be installed at San Felipe springs with electricity from Central Power and Light Company.

Oklahoma county judge E. M. Landrum was found guilty of embezzlement in the disappearance of Craig County bonds valued at about 32 thousand dollars. He received a five year prison term and a fine of 32086.55 dollars, with bond set at 10000 dollars on appeal.
