Last rites were held for David Jefferies Walker Tuesday morning at 10 in the Doran Chapel with Rev Roland Murray officiating. Interment followed in Westlawn Cemetery. Walker, a Del Rio resident and former railroad employee, died Monday at his daughter's home after a lengthy illness. He was born November 17, 1855 in Columbus Arkansas and married Clara Stewart in 1880. He leaves a son Autrey Walker, three daughters and three grandchildren.
Three people sustained injuries in a two car collision in the 1300 block of Avenue P on Monday at about 9 15 pm. Mr and Mrs RN Montgomery suffered cuts and bruises with Mr Montgomery having a badly lacerated tongue. Mrs Montgomery had minor injuries and shock. Albert Herndon was also injured with a forehead bruise and a wound. Mrs Montgomery remained at Williams Sanitarium on Tuesday while Herndon had been discharged earlier Tuesday morning.
May 4 reports evacuations in the Birds Point and New Madrid floodway as the Ohio River threatens inundation for the second time in five months. A 48 foot stage is forecast for Cairo, prompting state action.
Barbara Kinney, seven, fell two stories from a window in her San Francisco home on May 3 but escaped serious injury landing in a wash tub full of old clothes. She was taken to an emergency hospital where doctors found only a slight bruise on her leg.

800 mutton lambs weighing about 89 pounds each were sold Monday by L. Rust Sr. to Jap Lowe of Del Rio. The good weights are noted by ranchmen as above average for mutton lambs and reflect a strong market.
The regular monthly meeting of the Del Rio Volunteer Firemen is set for Tuesday at 7 30 in the fire station. Fire Chief Frank Jo Schmidt urged all members to attend the gathering.

San Antonio May 4 The market saw the largest cattle and calf run in years with 1 200 cattle and 1 200 calves. Calves were plentiful while fed yearlings and red steers were scarce. Prices varied with calves 25 50 cents lower, cows weak to 25 cents lower, and steers steady to higher. Trade ended with many cattle unsold and receipts heavy.
In San Angelo on May 4, buyers purchased about 750000 pounds of wool in West Texas last week. Largest deals were C D Stokes 375000 pounds at 38 to 38- cents and Lo M Murphy 63000 pounds at 38- cents. Some further buys at 38 cents were reported. Market prices remain near prior levels with projected Texas demand unknown beyond the season’s end. An warehouseman said he could hold wool until next February if needed. B E Francis of Francis & Co. and Joe Hunter toured the region and noted an easier market with hopes of expanding Texas purchases this year.
W B Burditt earns a one year tuberculosis free herd certificate for 71 pure bred Jersey dairy cattle issued by the U S Department of Agriculture Bureau of Animal Industry and Texas. The document, signed by J R Mohler and T O Booth, allows interstate shipment under state oversight and expires April 8 1938. It may be the only such certificate in West Texas.
