El Paso May 4. Claude Gatlin cow hand is sought in connection with the fatal shooting of H Heard 51 a mounted customs inspector. Heard was shot four times at the Tom Boles ranch 60 miles south of Hatchita NM after stopping there with A J McKinney. Gatlin allegedly fired as Heard confronted him. McKinney aided Heard to Hatchita then a train but Heard died before burial in Pecos. Gatlin had been on the border about two months. Heard served ten years in the customs service.

Funeral Rites Held for H. M. Block at Del Rio
Funeral services for H. M. Block 90 were held Tuesday at 4 p.m. from Doran Funeral Home with Rev. H. Conger Jones officiating. Interment followed in Westlawn Cemetery Masonic section. Block died Monday night after a several day illness. He came to Texas in the Civil War, served in Sibley’s Brigade, later married Janie Sampson and moved to Brackettville then Del Rio where he worked in the mercantile business. Survivors include son E. S. Block, grandson Edwin Hart Block, three great grandchildren Walter Herman Block Edwin Hart Block Jr. and Shirley Adele Block, all of Del Rio. Active pallbearers were Dr. F. M. Rose John M. Doak Walter F. Jones O R. Weinert Max Stool and Judge W F Boggess.
