First Mutton Lambs Sold in Crockett County
The first sale of 1931 mutton lambs in Crockett County closed on out of state orders, about 15 000 lambs sold at 3 dollars a head with September delivery. Last year prices opened 2.25 to 2.50 per head, some at 5 dollars in spring 1930. Texas lamb prices opened October at 4 cents a pound, with January prices up to 6 cents. The state expects an 80 to 85 percent lamb crop and October weights 65 to 75 pounds if range remains favorable. Fat lambs from Texas are expected on terminal markets throughout the summer.
