Villa Acuna saloons and cabarets report only beer as hard liquors face heavy federal taxes. First class venues pay city and state taxes plus up to 1000 pesos monthly to the federal government. Second class bars taxed 750 to 500 pesos monthly with mescal caterers at 75 pesos. Retail beer sales untaxed. Liquor available only from wholesalers Monday while bars must close or raise prices.
Pedro Salinas, 25, of San Antonio Texas identified himself after being found wandering nude on a Buffalo New York highway. He said he was kidnapped in San Antonio robbed of about $6000 and brought to New York in an automobile by three men. He was hospitalized for exposure.

Hillsboro Texas May 24 Officers announced the release of two youths held in connection with the robbery of John N Bucher 65 Saturday night They are detained for investigation in Bosque County Two men killed Bucher in his store and fled with 40 dollars in cash and jewelry valued at 1500 Mrs Bucher said the two youths held as suspects were not the robbers.
Rumor spreads that Col. Charles A. Lindbergh has been away from home for days amid the search for his kidnapped infant. State police declined to comment on the case.
In Mt Pleasant Michigan W I Davis blamed school children for a pecan theft from his garage but later evidence showed pecan shells scattered from a coal pile revealing a cement floor. He now suspects squirrels for taking the nuts and hiding them under the pile.
The National Wool Marketing Corporation announced in Boston that ample funds are available to finance the 1932 wool clip. They anticipate a potential price above 12 cents per pound for private clips and assert adequate warehouse facilities and personnel. Border officials hunted Jose Fabila after he allegedly shot Casamier Salazar in an affray near Langtry Saturday evening. Fabila fled to Mexico by swimming the Rio Grande. Salazar was shot through the shoulder but not seriously wounded. Cause of the trouble was not learned locally.

Mrs. J. A. Murrell, 32, shot and seriously wounded a man who tried to enter her Fort Worth residence early today. The man, who identified himself as Abe Winthrop, 40, was captured and taken to a hospital for treatment.
The Supreme Court held unconstitutional the Texas law allowing the Democratic executive committee to bar African Americans from party primary polls. The court did not decide if the party can empower the committee to exclude voters. L. A. Nixon of El Paso filed the appeal.
Rep Crisp of Georgia introduced a resolution for congressional pardon for four Americans convicted of manslaughter in the Kahahawai case tied to the Massie assault incident. The move follows questions about Hoover’s pardon power over the quartet.
