She aided many youths and needy men, raised several of her own children and considered a large extended family part of her life.
Edwards County Fair Association holds meeting in Rock Springs to set the annual Rodeo and Fair for June 16 17 and 18 with larger purses and new features. Free barbecue and nightly dancing planned. Grandstand expansion to seat all admission ticket buyers and committees to be selected.
Sonora residents approved issuing 90000 dollars in revenue bonds to purchase and build a water system. Ballots showed 110 to 6 in favor, meeting the required majority for passage.
The Texas Senate Highways and Motor Traffic Committee unanimously approved an amended drivers license bill. It provides revocation or suspension on serious charges by a court of competent jurisdiction and adopts a substitute for a House proposal that allowed trial after 20 days notice before highway patrol officers. The bill adds a general driving exam with a 50 cent fee for new license applicants after 90 days. current license holders are exempt from the exam.
One hundred nineteen Del Rioans entered the yard and garden contest as committees report more figures. Pittsburgh March 2 The memnoscope a memory device using a copper roller brain and aluminum foil images recalls electrical pulsations from ignition trouble. Invented by B E Marshall and WE Pakala the device demonstrates storing likenesses as charged segments, triggering a camera shutter when recalling a fault.
The funeral for F Pantel was conducted Sunday at 5:30 PM at First Methodist Church with Rev l C S Beastes officiating. Interment followed at Westlawn Cemetery under Doran Funeral Home direction. He died Saturday night from gunshot wounds described at an inquest. He was born in Round Rock and married Elizabeth Ward of Del Rio on May 22 1934. He leaves seven sisters two brothers his father and widow. Pallbearers and honorary pallbearers are listed from Del Rio Luling and San Antonio.
Deio Independent School District board members T P Cook and W WD Curry seek another term in the upcoming school election scheduled for Saturday. Curry serves as secretary, Cook is a former president. Voting will be held Saturday in the Junior School with Tom Miller in charge.
Lonnie Aydelott, who escaped from Uvalde County Jail, was recaptured in San Antonio and faced burglary charges. A separate report from Dallas notes a burglar took $15 in cash from an inn, with the money left in an icebox.
