The Park Board announced April 15 as the opening date for the Moore Park swimming pool. Ralph Ross was named custodian, with wife Mrs. Ross and brother Mitchell Ross assisting as senior life savers. Ross, a San Felipe High School teacher and life saving examiner, will supervise after school and weekends and later devote full time. He plans to offer swimming instruction to various age groups through the summer.
Sterling Price Strong, 73, veteran Texas politician and former congressman at large, died today at his Dallas home. A member of the 73rd Congress, he also served as president of the State Law Enforcement Commission.
Governor Hoffman plans to ask the Court of Pardons to hear Bruno Hauptmann's new clemency appeal on Monday. Attorney General Wilentz states Hauptmann remained guilty and will not weigh a second reprieve until Hoffman acts. Observers expect Hoffman to grant a reprieve if the court blocks interference with the Tuesday night execution.

Kerrville March 28 Carnegie medals are sought for Léon Sultenfuss 21 and Henry Sultenfuss 19 for saving one life and aiding other victims after a January 23 automobile crash 12 miles south of Kerrville Four people died and two were badly hurt Leon and Norman Sultenfuss have since secured Maryland jobs due to their rescue Their reward came from Mrs Glenn Steward aunt to William Berrien who was pulled from the burning car and is now recovering

Hazel Lois Fellows two month old daughter of Mr and Mrs V Cap Fellows died in a fire on West Fourth Street. Fire chief Artman said cause undetermined but kerosene stove explosion suspected. Mrs Fellows collapsed as flames swept the house. The 16 month old boy was found blocks away and unharmed. Funeral services set for 2 p.m. at Doran Chapel with Mary Rachford pastor officiating. Interment Westlawn Cemetery. Mr Fellows employed by State Highway Department.
A distinguished group led by Vice President and Mrs. Garner attended a reception hosted by Mrs. E. Paul Waggoner of Fort Worth and viewed the newly completed bust of Mr. Garner by Electra Waggoner Bowman of Fort Worth and New York. Cabinet members diplomats and many senators and representatives were present including Texans Senator Connally Representatives Lanham Rayburn Sumner and Earl Cowley president of the Texas Club in Washington.
