Fourteen men aged 18 to 25 will join the Civilian Conservation Corps as Val Verde County's new quota, to be filled by April 3. Relief Administrator E. B. Block, via CCC enrollment supervisor Neal Guy in Austin, notes few applications have been filed at the East Martin Street relief office. Eligible enrollees must hail from relief rolls, and they will report to Fort Clark on April 3 for enrollment procedures.
Washington March 28 The Treasury reports higher income tax receipts making profitable operation likely for the month, marking the first profit in 41 months for the U.S. Treasury.

Gainesville March 28 Fair officials face delays obtaining a yoke of oxen for the pioneer days court house square reproduction. Oxen bought in Tyler County by W T Bonner must be dipped due to county quarantine, but current vats are insufficient for horned animals, necessitating a special vat construction before arrival.
The Eagle Pass district court grand jury returned two indictments on Wednesday. The body had previously returned nine felony indictments on March 21 and was recalled. Court attaches announced the court would remain in session all next week in Eagle Pass.
Brownwood resident J. F. Uncle Jack Smith says he owns one of Texas oldest typewriters dating to 1889. The National Typewriter Company model, bought while he served Brown County as clerk from 1890 to 1894, remains in good working order and drew crowds when shown in his office. The claim follows reports about another old Bennett typewriter sent to a Milwaukee museum.
