In San Angelo on March 28 three suspects were arrested after an 11 year old girl was abducted last night. She said a tall black man attacked her near railroad tracks after entering via a cut screen on a sleeping porch. She was returned unharmed after threats of death.
Washington reports from ambassador Morrow say Mexican rebels retreating on both fronts. In Sinola rebels withdraw toward Culiacan after the Mazatlan attack fails. Jiminez evacuated on the north central front. General Calles asks Mexico City for more cavalry to clear Cristeros in Guanajuato and Jalisco.
Houston March 28. Michael Lyons 20 the first swimming season victim drowned in the San Jacinto river late Wednesday. He and two companions swam across the river and turned back when cramps struck. He grabbed a log but slipped and disappeared. his companions pursued him but recovered no body.
Graf Zeppelin ends a 5000 mile trip to Palestine and returns to Friedrichshafen landing at 9:45 this morning. The air ship carried a crew of 40 and 25 passengers. it departed Friedrichshafen shortly after midnight Sunday.
Secretary of State Kellogg will relinquish his office to Henry L. Stimson at 5 p m with Chief Justice Taft administering the oath. Stimson will assume duties when the department opens tomorrow. Kellogg sails from New York Friday for a European vacation.
Del Rio will welcome a United cigar store at the Main and Garfield corner, occupying space formerly used by Bell Realty Co. The thorough survey showed Del Rio as a fine business center with strong growth signs, and the opening date is set for Monday April 6.
Nine sailors from the transport St Mihiel aboard the ship were charged with possession and sale of liquor. They are to be arraigned Friday in San Francisco. The case involves allegedly selling illicit rye liquor to soldiers aboard the vessel.
The Del Rio Rotary Club approved resolutions praising the West Texas News for starting a daily paper in Del Rio and extending cooperation to publisher LaCrosse and associates. They also paid tribute to former citizen L. A. LaCrosse for his pivotal role in Del Rio's early development.
Virginia Horton twelve, daughter of Mr and Mrs A F Horton, died after a heavy iron swing at Woodrow Wilson school broke striking her on the head. Irene Smith received a broken arm when the swing failed. Parents claim the upright was made from an old boiler flue and was rotten.
The Del Rio Lions Club luncheon featured Hon. C. C. Belcher speaking on tariffs with emphasis on mohair and wool schedules. Belcher, a noted South expert, addressed Ways and Means testimony in Washington and drew enthusiastic response from attendees. The group also announced a Del Rio April 19 Womanless Wedding to raise funds to finish paying for the high school basketball court donated by the Lions.
Sheriff Bob Hall and Patrol Inspector Tisdale seized a Cadillac coupe loaded with 350 quarts of tequila. The car had concealed compartments and a trapdoor into the storage box, making it a well arranged bootlegging vehicle. The driver, who gave the name Alfred R Reed of Antonio, was captured five miles west on the highway and taken to Eagle Pass with the car and liquor.

Washington March 28 Chairman Potter of the House Foreign Affairs committee said he will ask Attorney General Mitchell to order an investigation into possible smuggling aboard the sunken schooner Imalone. Divers will be sent to inspect the wreck and determine its cargo.
J W Drisdale, a stocksman from Juno country, arrived this morning saying it rained yesterday from Juno to Comstock and improved range conditions. Feely country west also reported fine rains. A 1.5 inch downpour fell at one sitting but the northerday halted further precipitation, though overall the county experiences good range for this time of year.

Owner operator B B Bonar arrives with family and plans to use the latest processes to produce butter and ice cream for local and regional markets. He will contract with southern Texas farmers to secure cream and may boost local dairy farming.
Rough spots at railroad crossings and surrounding streets by the Southern Pacific passenger depot have been fixed over the past two days. The street commissioner is commended for the quality of work and the improved driving conditions in that part of town.
Plainview records the heaviest March precipitation since 1905 with 2.93 inches, compared to 3.8 inches in 1905. The noting center reports the event occurred on March 28.
Publishers plan to publish Missouri University sex questionnaire in The Barb despite Dean Moore summoning editor John Woodruff. Non student backers drive publication while Moore warns Woodruff will be held responsible as a student. He cites another university’s embarrassment and resists linking Texas University to the issue.
The Wildcat football squads calling themselves Army and Navy will meet in Cowboy Park Friday at 4 for the first public spring training game. Admission funds will buy equipment, and the public is urged to attend and back the team.
