Prowler Steals Stamp Machine From Hotel Lobby

S A Christian former Hall County sheriff was convicted of extortion for fee collection while in office. A jury set punishment at two years in the State penitentiary after the case went to trial last night. A new trial motion was filed immediately. The indictment claimed he collected 279 dollars for an arrest trip that never occurred. Christian was the fourth sheriff or former sheriff convicted in a Senate ordered probe into State fee offices.

Convicted Sonora Killer Stricken In State Prison
Cleofas Lopez a 22 year old serving a five year Sut ton County murder sentence died Tuesday in Huntsville State Penitentiary. He had killed Manuel Rodriguez in a West Sonora draw after Lopez wed the night before. No details of death available. He was buried in Huntsville Wednesday.

Pioneer Auto Builder Dies in Detroit
