Grover Yocham was held to answer on a charge tied to a two vehicle crash near Baker Crossing that killed 85 year old DM Grice, a San Angelo salesman. Yocham posted a 750 bond and waived a preliminary hearing set for Del Rio. Grice’s body was sent to San Angelo for burial. survivors include his widow and two brothers.
The weather bureau predicts freezing temperatures in parts of Texas tonight following dust clouds advancing toward the Gulf. Northern East Texas is expected to experience the cold spell.

The club approved forwarding 1 dollars annual dues for 47 members to the Foundation to support the springs convalescent and rehabilitation center at Gonzales Palmetto State Park as part of a six week campaign ending Easter Sunday.
Humberto Boone, charged with a morals offense, was granted a new trial by the Court of Appeals in Austin. He had been tried twice. the first trial resulted in no restraint, while the second led to a guilty verdict and a 15 year sentence.
Crafton Hatley of Brackettville faces a new trial motion after a Brackettville jury found him guilty of murder of a local Black woman. The court set punishment at three years in the penitentiary with District Attorney Julian LaCrosse and Judge Brian Montague presiding Thursday afternoon.
March 25 report from Washington notes Dean Young Smith of Col... University Law School told the Senate Judiciary Committee that the Roosevelt court bill threatens independence and could erode public confidence in the Supreme Court. Harold W Dodds of Princeton and Louis Taber of the Grange oppose reorganization, urging constitutional amendment or a split bill to separate Supreme Court matters from lower courts. Taber argues the plan would politicize the court and harm farmers, while Dodds cautions against centralized control and calls for gradual study.
AUSTIN March 200 reports from the University of Texas Bureau of Business Research show February employment and pay rolls were unchanged from January but up sharply from February 1936. 1,600 establishments tracked state wide report 320 thousand employees, up 6 percent from February. Pay totals reached 1,866,052 a week, up 14 percent from January and 161 percent above February 1936. Corpus Christi, Houston, Laredo, Lubbock, and Walm note rains above average.
