Congressman Chas L South told the Texas Sheep and Goat Raisers Association that a 460000 appropriation for blow fly research passed the Senate. Sheriff J. M. Lawler and Gordon Feldhaus pursued H. W. Gorath on a felony charge. Gorath was seized in Del Rio after extradition papers were issued by Minor County officials. He confessed a butcher by trade in Howard and left in custody with handcuffs as they crossed toward South Dakota.
A San Antonio wholesale liquor salesman was jailed in Val Verde County after arrest by three liquor control board members in Del Rio on a charge of carrying liquor without a permit. Police say liquor was found in his car and he transported it without a permit. Local bars and beer outlets were ordered to close at midnight Tuesday on the board’s suggestion. The three officers said they will rotate visits but not station full-time in Del Rio.

Thirty six new members were added to the American Legion Auxiliary during a two week membership drive ending Tuesday. The drive increased total Auxiliary membership to sixty two, with working members split into two sides. The losing side will host a social for the side that brought in more members, date to be announced.
