Woman Pays Fine for Drunkenness and Disturbing the Peace

A woman charged with drunkenness and disturbing the peace paid fine and costs of 12.70 in corporation court Tuesday morning. A man paid a similar fine on a disturbing the peace charge. A man who asked for a jury trial on using obscene language in Bishop's Case No. 3 pleaded guilty and paid 12.70 after a jury had been summoned.

Fort Clark Band To Play At Hiway Meet In Del Rio

The Fort Clark band will furnish music for the Highway No. 90 Association session in Del Rio on March 27. The W-piece group will arrive at 9 30 a m with the highway delegation from the Roswell Hotel to the courthouse where the fifth meeting opens at 10 o clock. The band recently entertained visitors at the Uvalde event and will also host a goat barbecue at the San Felipe Country Club arranged by B J McDowell and Stanford Payne.

Kidnap Suspect Flees Officers

Oklahoma authorities seek extradition of M. Y. Hardin from Texas after the Oklahoma Supreme Court dismissed his custody appeal. Hardin is charged with kidnapping his foster son and fled after officers pursued him in Austin, Texas. Governor Moody signed extradition papers as efforts continue.

Man Jailed Here On Check Charge Wanted By Hondo Officials

Ed N. Nickers of Sanderson, held here for two weeks on a $25.50 worthless check charge, is wanted in Hondo on a similar matter. Nickers passed the check to Bill Henson of the Henson Hotel.

A midnight fire in Lovelady Texas burned six buildings by noon, with damage estimated at over 30000 dollars. The Thomas Self Gun suffered the heaviest loss at about 12000 dollars.

Uvalde Granted Maximum Credit for Fire Rates

Uvalde, Mar. 25. The city received the maximum 15 percent credit from the State Fire Insurance Commission after a 1929 fire loss of 1500 dollars. Premiums for 1927 1928 and 1929 totaled about 65000 dollars with losses around 32 percent of that amount.

Del Rio district renames schools with simpler titles

The Del Rio Independent School District trustees adopt official names for all buildings. The Mexican School becomes West End Elementary, Hill School becomes North Heights Elementary, Central Area School is Central Elementary, a new Del Rio Junior School is created, Del Rio High School replaces the new building, and the Negro School is renamed Del Rio Colored School. More historic names were suggested but rejected.

Judge G. D. Hines of Eldorado Dies

Eldorado reports the death of former Schleicher County Judge G D Hines who resigned last July to ranch near Roswell New Mexico. He served as county surveyor and was in his second term as judge when he left office. Survived by three sons. He lived here eight years after moving from Coleman and had previously ranched near San Angelo.

San Antonio-Del Rio Firm Wins Heat Contract

Clem Anderson Construction Co of San Antonio Del Rio area secured the heating contract for the central and new high schools and North Heights with a bid of 14449, subject to equipment changes. W B Brown of Kerrville won plumbing for the buildings at 529 exclusive of minor pipe work. Plans to build an addition were halted by a temporary injunction as bids varied widely and local labor support was emphasized by officials.
