Db M Grice died from a fractured skull and multiple injuries after a truck driven by Grover Yocham of Rankin crashed two miles from Baker's Crossing. Yocham was uninjured. the other vehicle sustained heavy damage and merchandise was scattered. The body was taken to San Angelo for a Wednesday court hearing. Yocham’s attorney arrived from Rankin for representation.
In Honolulu a motorship named Fijian fought a fire and explosion at sea after a gasoline blast. Most of the crew took to lifeboats while a skeleton crew contained the flames. The incident followed a prior at sea fire on the Silver Larch.
The Rev L C Beasley, pastor, conducts a week long series of pre Easter services at the First Methodist Church. Services will be held nightly at 7 30 o clock through Sunday evening.

February 1937 crossings at San Antonio District ports totaled 323647 passengers and 69408 autos from Mexico. Pedestrians reached 423647 on Del Rio Brownsville bridges. Laredo saw 26937 autos and 156803 passengers. Brownsville 15183 autos and 62754 passengers. Eagle Pass 7924 autos and 51748 passengers. Packages examined by customs numbered 46131.

A blaze in a frame dwelling in Baldwin Harbor killed five people. The fire started from an air conditioner that had been converted to burn kerosene, investigators say.

Funeral services for J. A. Shield were held Wednesday morning at Massie Chapel in San Angelo with Rev. K. P. Barton officiating. Shield died Monday night after several months illness. Surviving relatives include his mother Mrs W Shield, a sister Mrs E D Kinzler of El Dorado Arkansas, a brother G W Shield Jr, and Brown Shield of San Angelo, and a nephew Joyce Alles ld 44. Pallbearers were Mart Findlater, Clay Wylie, Melvin Williams, Bascomb Benton, Mortimer Hall, and Ross Wood. Massie Funeral Home conducted arrangements.
