Joseph Albert Gardna, a Del Rio native and longtime San Antonio resident, died Monday in San Antonio. Funeral services were held Tuesday. Survived by his widow Mrs Doyle Stewart Gardna, two daughters Miss Mary Louise Gardna and Miss Alice Jo Gardna, his mother Mrs Adelaide Garza, and grandmother Mrs Martin C Campbell.
In Minneapolis federal court Judge Gunnar H. Norbye sentenced Tommy Touhy to 23 years in Leavenworth for the mail robbery conviction. In Washington the Ways and Means sub committee advanced to include processing taxes on agricultural and competing products in their tax program report, heading to full committee hearings Monday on the $792 million proposal.
Six absentee ballots had been cast by Tuesday morning as names of voters are posted in City Hall per 1935 statutes. Garden Parks residents and disputed territory voters may cast absentee ballots with proper affidavits.

Mrs Minnie Bibb 68 a Del Rio resident for about 50 years died in San Antonio after a long illness at her daughter's home Mrs R L Hensley Funeral services are planned for Wednesday at 5 pm from Porter Loring Chapel San Antonio Interment will be in San Jose Cemetery She was a charter member of Del Rio Order of the Eastern Star No 204 and active in the Methodist Church She sewed in Del Rio and is survived by her daughter Mrs Hensley her son Johnnie Bibb of Sweetwater and four grandchildren
In Alaminos Pangasinan Province two children died and 27 were wounded seven seriously as panic broke out during a church service after a fire destroyed the altar at the Roman Catholic Church on the final day of the Pangasinian Eucharistic Congress. Artificial flowers fed the flames.
Washington reports that Mexican cattle raisers are not expected to gain from the United States Canada reciprocal trade treaty. Vice Consul James C Powell of Chihuahua says few dairy cows are available and only a small number of calves under 175 pounds will enter the U S under the preferential duty and quota. Limited export potential exists for cattle weighing 700 pounds or more, with most sales aimed at U S fattening markets.
Good progress on Val Verde County flood relief quota for Red Cross. More than half of the $110 goal had been raised by Tuesday. Frank Schmidt, acting chairman, canvassed residents and school superintendents to gather donations. Contributions can be left at the Chamber of Commerce or with Alymer Gilmer, treasurer, at Del Rio National Bank.

Dr. John F. Condon, known as Lindbergh ransom intermediary, agreed to discuss with Governor Hoffman at Hoffman's Bronx home the questionable phases of Bruno Hauptmann's involvement in the kidnapping. Condon questioned Hoffman's sincerity, taste, and impartiality in granting the interview request.
