Many homes and businesses suffered, with Dr. J R Brinkley's home suffering a ruined cathedral window and other properties sustaining shattered glass and water damage as adjusters began assessing losses. Additional rain fell into the weekend in nearby Vinegarone and Carta Valley.
Former President Hoover writes to the California Republican assembly that the current recovery theories fail. He argues the nation must choose between liberty based government and one of regulation and bureaucracy. He calls for removing paralyzing effects of mistaken policies.

Boston reports Secretary Wilard Bigelow says Gov. Myers announced a new agreement between the federal government and leading wool houses creating a near free market for 1935. Growers may sell directly or through approved dealers, borrowers from government corporations have same rights, and prices show no weakness as the industry trends up from a low point.
The Farm Credit Administration will continue a wool and mohair clip plan with changes to allow borrower discretion on cash or consignments. Borrowers may sell or consign, with consignees urged to market ratably and equitably. Approved consignees include the National Wool Marketing Corporation and other recognized wool co operatives.
The Rev. G. Robert Forrester of Coleman is chosen as pastor of the First Christian Church in Del Rio. J. T. Laughlin announced the selection on Saturday. Forrester and his wife plus three children plan to arrive in Del Rio around May. He preached at Del Rio two weeks ago by invitation and accepted the post in a letter received Saturday. He has led the Coleman Christian Church for six years.
Fort Worth reports that Dr. I. A. Withers, head of the Texas Board of Medical Examiners, is charged with violating Federal narcotic laws. He posted $10,000 bond after allegations of conspiring with Fort Worth druggists J. C. Milner and E. F. Gibson to write prescriptions for large quantities over 15 months to feed addicts. Milner and Gibson were released on $5,000 bond each. Dr. Withers claims the case stems from a misunderstanding of his enforcement work and notes two narcotic agents were sent here at his suggestion. one agent, Spencer Stafford, was killed during a narcotic investigation at Fort Worth’s Post on February 7. He says he briefly furnished narcotics to informers assisting Federal officers.
Garza of Villa Acuna was fined 23 dollars in Justice Court on Saturday for selling fish without a permit. He admitted applying for a license but the Oz Finley game warden said none was required. The penalty includes a one year license ban.
President Roosevelt approved the recently drafted Philippine constitution, completing the last American step needed to establish home rule in the Philippines.
Washington reports President Roosevelt halts plans for a fishing cruise off Florida due to the grave illness of Secretary Louis M. Howe. In New Orleans Marian King, cabaret hostess, is formally charged with murder in the stabbing of John Irving Pierce and with concealing her identity. Senate leaders predict quick passage of the relief bill before night adjournment, adopting a modified silver inflation amendment without a roll call.
James E. Fuquay urges all United States World War veterans to attend Val Verde Post 23 American Legion meeting on Monday March 25 at 7 30 p m in the Chamber of Commerce building. The open letter stresses welfare of World War veterans and community and notes action will address financial betterment for all veterans.
Federal injunction restrains Garza County officials and defense counsel from prosecuting Sheriff W. F. Cato in State Court. The writ, granted by Judge James C. Wilson in Fort Worth, names eight individuals including G. H. Nelson Walter B. Scott W. P. McLean and several Lubbock attorneys as alleged to impair federal jurisdiction.
By 1 30 p m the city hall tally stood at 62 votes with 60 at the San Pelipe precinct. Voters weighed a charter change to shrink city boundaries and considered removing the water board from the city charter.
Only seven days remain to register vehicles in the county as of Friday 664 motor vehicles have been registered this year including 5838 passenger cars 74 trucks and 51 farm trucks. Relative to 1934 the current 25 percent of cars registered signals a tight deadline and a daily average of 250 registrations is needed for March. Mrs Walter Klein and Mrs Myrtle Roberts will assist in the office to speed renewals with receipts from last year and notarized affidavits for trucks farm trucks trailers and motor buses required.

B. J. Brannan, superintendent of Sanderson High School for six years, resigned this week and the board accepted immediately. The Sanderson Times mentioned serious charges but did not disclose details. Corinne Fox becomes interim superintendent and Elmo Low takes over as principal.
