Bandera Texas March 21 Rangers and special deputies assist crowd as commissioners seek a successor to Sheriff Elvious Hicks slain Sunday outside Mansfield Park two miles west of Bandera. Hicks returned fire killing Ben Clark who died later. Deputy Billy Burns charged and later released on bond. Hicks survived by wife Pearl and two sons Raymond and Walton. Clark left a widow and two children. Both men were Bandera natives.

W. E. Weathersbee Jr. 26 of Del Rio was found shot in his room at the family home on 200 Fast Seventh Street. A .38 pistol lay nearby. the bullet entered the heart and lodged in the wall. Funeral was held Monday at 4 pm at the residence with Rev Charles Nixon. Burial was in Westlawn Cemetery under Doran Funeral Home. He was born in Bedias Texas in 1906 and moved to Del Rio as a child. He married Hazel Whitehead four years ago and is survived by his wife a daughter Minnie Lee his parents two brothers two sisters and numerous relatives.
